Setup before the team arrives

Before the fun begins when the baseball season starts, there is an incredible amount of work involved in getting this thing we all call a "baseball game" ready to be played. From the front office staff selling tickets or advertising, the stadium operations crew putting on a fresh coat of paint, or even the groundskeeper manicuring each single blade of green grass, the work is long, hard and maybe even tedious. But it is never boring.

Think of the many times you have gone to the ballpark. The buzz of the crowd. The anticipation of the outcome of the game. Releasing stress as you sit back and relax and cheer for your favorite player or whole team. The taste of the ice-cold beer or Pepsi, and how about those hotdogs! Oh, we all do love the ballpark food. The crack of the bat. That monster home-run. (Chicks still do dig the long ball). All that fun puts smiles on everyones faces.

That also is what keeps all the folks that work in baseball, quite frankly, IN baseball. While I can never say enough great things about the rest of the staff, my work also allows me to participate at another level....Being able to walk out onto the field of play, visit the bullpen or even watch a few innings from the dugout. How can this be? As you may have read in my profile, I am the Clubhouse Manager. Some may refer to me as an Equipment Manager or Players Assistant. Either title gives the clue that I support each of the players and coaching staff with a variety of individual and group services. Some may not have occurred to you as normal game-day needs.

The team flys in on April 1, and the regular season starts on the 5th. Before the fun begins, I'll fill you in on my daily team responsibilities as well as my backgound or other information. From there it will all be about the team. Questions? Send them to me. Comments are welcome as well.

See you next time....
